Yaku / Open Kitchen

We're building a better way to deliver local food. In public.

We're starting small, sharing what we learn, and working toward a delivery service that makes sense for restaurants, drivers, and customers.

The $9.99 experiment

Founders price

Our goal is to make $9.99 delivery (or less) sustainable. We're testing real-world costs and demand before making a permanent pricing commitment.

Our commitments

  • Clear fees

One flat delivery fee. No service fees, no hidden fees.

  • Fair driver pay

Drivers are hourly employees, paid for all work time and reimbursed for mileage.

  • Open progress

What we learn, and what we decide, gets posted here.

Why we chose $9.99, what we're testing, and how we'll decide whether it stays.

$9.99 is what we think a local delivery should cost. Everyone pays the same fee; there's no per-customer pricing.

During the founders period we're measuring what each delivery really costs — driver time, payment processing, and running the platform — against how many orders our neighbors place.

When we know whether $9.99 holds up, we'll post the numbers here.

What restaurant should we add next?

We'd love to hear from you

An idea, a question, something we got wrong. A founder reads every note.
